THE DOUBLE BY "CALLER OU."
I am not going through the horses for the Steeplechase and-Bracelet, because If I; were to do so some of my readers might wonder at my final selections. Tipping is at all times an unsatisfactory task for a Steeplechase,, and on the .present occasion is unusually so owing fto the doubt as to the state of the ground. Dealing with the Steeple first I have a great respect for Clarence, but if he can get home first m: heavy going with such a weight he is m-, deed a wonder. I confess I had a weakness for Pastime at one time, but I am not satisfied that he cares for the soft ground, and therefore I discard him.' Scrutineer ought to run a good horse. Druid I like ; he is an improving.horse, and by an by we will hear of him as the years go on. I never like to pick more than one horse _ for a straight out tip; if lam right I claim the credit; ifjwrong—well, I can't say I thought he would be second or third and he did better than I expected, but between the two last named I am in a fix. For the Bracelet I have no .doubts, though I like Qberon, and so, to make a long story short, I pick the double as follows: — The Druid and Lady Artist.
