The statement of the landlord was made in proof of the necessity that existed for the hotel. Tho committee also decided that the license of the Swan Hotel would not be renewed unless a substantial guarantee were made that a new building would be erected within six months. The chairman suggested that, the guarantee should be half a year's rent, £225, to be lodged with the Mayor or Town Clerk. The final decision was deferred until Friday.
