Auckland. This day
A new trial has been applied for in the "surgery at sea" case, in which the captain of a vessel was mulcted in damages for maltreatment, but the decision was deferred.
Wanganui, This day
Frank Carr, who was arrested in Auckland on a charge of embezzlement, arrived yesterday. He was brought before the Resident Magistrate in the forenoon and dismissed, the evidence not being sufficient to warrant a committal.
Christchurch, This day
A boy named William Ebbs, alias Miller, sixteen years old, has been committed for stealing a watch and chain and a chequo for £15 17s Od.
