MELBOURNE.
May 21. A movement is on foot for the enrolment of members of the University in a company of new militia. A large body of men, headed by a man named Fairhurst, well known as an agitator and a demagogue, waited at the Govera-
ment offices on Saturday, asking for work. The Trades and Labor Council consider the demonstration uncalled for, as work is easy to get. Miss Ward is still drawing good houses in "The Queen's Favorite." Miss Jeffrey Lewis opened at the Royal in "Fedora. Miss Emilie Melville continues performing " Carmen " at the Bijou Theatre to crowded houses.
