The Presbyterian Assembly has been sitting to consider the application of the Scots Church for a Bill to enable it to leave the Presbyterian Church of Victoria. The commission appointed to report on the best means of relieving tho destitute has held its sittings. Mr Reed, the chairman, made a proposal for compulsory weekly payments to be made by all young men between 17 and 25, in order to insure against sickness aud old age. The journeymen bakers went out on strike on Saturday, but no public inconvenience ensued.

The City Council have adopted a report of the Town Hall Committee recommending it to consider any proposition for holding sacred concerts or organ recitals in the ToAvn Hall on Sunday afternoons.
