Squad of Rifle Volunteers parade for bayonet exercise in front of the Athenajum at 7.45 to-night. Willmott's Comedy Company perform "Imprudence" at the Theatro Royal tonight. The first prize firing of the Taradale Rifle Club commences at the Taradale range at 7.30 a.m. to-morrjw. Messrs Monteith and Co. sell horses, potatoes, onions, barley, and carrots by auction at the Horse Bazaar at 11.30 a.m. to-morrow. The Waipukurau races take place tomorrow, the first race being started punctually at noon. A special train leaves Napier at 8.40 a.m., calling at intermediate stations, and arriving at Waipukurau at 11.15 a.m. The return train leaves Waipukurau at 5 p.m., arriving in Napier at 7.40. Tonders for the lease of the store m Tennyson-street lately occupied by Mr Ryan, auctioneer, must be sent in to Mr T. W. Balfour, Bank of New Zoaland, by noon to-morrow. Messrs Blythe and Co. commence a sale of remnants to-morrow, lasting for one week. Lamb, architect, invites tenders for the erection of new Corporation offices in Tennyson-street. Mr Alexander Browne's compulsory clearing yjut sale of drapery and clothing is now raging, every article being reduced to cost The sale of canaries by Messrs Monteith and Co., announced for to-morroAV, has been postponed till a future date, which will be duly announced. A brown gelding has been impounded at Taradale, and, if not redeemed, will be sold on June 6. The annual meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society will be held on Friday, 6th June, and nominations of members for committee must be sent in to the secretary not later than Tuesday, 3rd June. Messrs Blythe and Co. have landing today 10 cases of drapery ex Aorangi. Mr A. L. Cooper, land, estate, and commission agent, Emerson street, has money to lend, keeps tradesmen's books, and collects debts. Mr Joseph Cosgrove has a four-roomed cottage with garden to let.
