Admiral Richards will succeed Commodore Erskine in command of the Australian station in June. Mr Osborne, Resident Commissioner of the Cape is appealing to John Dunn for troops to assist in repelling the Usutus. The inhabitants of Ekowe are fortifying that district. A powerful colonial bank has been formed at Hamburgh. M. Ferry has announced that he proposes to largely curtail the powers of tho French Senate.
The Standard believes that the bulk of the shareholders of the Oriental Bank will be unable to meet the first call.
