INQUESTS.
Auckland, This day
At the inquest yesterday on the body of Patrick Moran, who died in gaol with four ribs fractured, tho jury brought in a verdict to the effect that death was accelerated by the accidental fracture of four ribs. The police and the prison authorities were acquitted of blame, but the jury expressed the conviction that Moran's dying statement, that he had asked admission at the hospital aud had been refused, was true. Dr. Bond, the house surgeon of the hospital, in his evidence denied this, and said that Moran had not applied for admission, nor was there any record of his having done so. Timaeu, This day.
At the inquest on the tragedy at Arowhenua, when Garland murdered his wife and afterwards committed suicide, not tho slightest further light wa3 thrown on the affair, the cause of which will probably never be known.
