Nominations to fill the three vacancies in the Herctaunga Road Board will be received by the returning officer up to noon on Monday. Tenders for tho erection of a church in Edwards street Avill be received by Mr Lamb up to noon on Monday. Tenders for delivering black soil on the Recreation Ground must be sent in to Mr R. Williams not later than Monday. Tho meeting of tho Hastings Football Club, announced for this evening, is postponed till Tuesday evening. Mr Lyndon continues the clearing salo of Mr J. C. Taylor's stock-in-trade at his mart on Wednesday next, without reserve. The annual meeting of tho Petano ratepayers Avill be held in the Petano schoolroom on Monday, May 5. Messrs Edward Lyndon and Henry Monteith havo taken out auctioneers' licenses for tho period ending April 25, 1885. Messrs George and Arthur Carlyon, J. L. Spry, F. Sutton, A. C. Knight, W. Cato, and J. H. Coleman havo taken out shooting licenses for the game season. Mr W. A. Bcecroft has re-cntored into possession of the Railway Hotel, Hastings, and will be always glad to welcome his old friends. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have rye grass peed for sale at various prices. Messrs Newton and Co. havo just opened a great variety of new styles in ladies jackets. A dark roan marc has been impounded at Hastings, and Avill be sold on the 10th Ma}- if not prcA-iously redeemed. Messrs Blythe and Co. quote price for littlo boy's overcoats. Messrs Hardy and Sidey have chaff cutters, from the smallest size to the largest size, and horso gears, Avith tho latest improvements. Being on consignment are offered at exceptionally low prices. Mr John Mcllroy has commenced business as blacksmith at Hastings, and hopes to merit a fair share of support. Mr T. Aunett has a six-roomed houso in Fitzroy road to let. Mr D. C. Hitchmanis selling lollies, &c, wholesale, at lowest rates, quality and purity guaranteed. A number of new advertisements Avill be found in our " Wanted " column.
