BURGESS ROLL, 1881-5. npHE following extract from "The I Municipal Corporations Act, 187G," is published for general information : — " Clause -10.-—The Town Clerk of every Borough shall, on or before the 31st day of MARCH in each year, make out from the Rate-book a list to be colled the "DEFAULTERS' LIST," of the names, arranged in the alphabetical order of their surnames, "Of all persons who have not then paid all the rates which or or before the 31st of December previous they were then liable to pay." "Clause 41.—The Town Clerk of every Borough shall, on or before the 31st day of MARCH in each year, make out in the form in the sth Schedule, from the Valuation Roll, a list to be called the "BURGESS LIST," containing the names of all persons arranged in the alphabetical order of their surnames, whose names appear on the Valuation Roll, "Omitting therefrom the name of every person whose name is on the Defaulters' List." No "Defaulter" therefore, can be placed on tho Burgess Roll, or bo capable of voting, or be elected to serve as a Councillor for the Borough. M. N. BOWER, Town Clerk.
