April 10. Intelligence has been received here that Admiral Sir William Hewitt, commanding the Indian squadron, who proceeded a short time back on a special mission to Abysinnia, has now left Massowah on board the flagship H.M.S. Euragalus, and is returning , to Suakim. Further news to hand from Kassala, a town in the Soudan near the Abysinnian frontier, confirms the previous intelligence of the critical position of the beleaguered garrison. Tlip Governor has made a fresh appeal to the British authorities at Suakim for aid. He announces that the Bashi Bazouks forming part of his force are deserting him, and fears that ho may not be able to hold out much longer unless assistance is sent. (Received April 12, 1.5 a.m.) The difficulty which had arisen between Nubar Pasha, the President of the Council of Ministers, and Mr Clifford Lloyd, Undersecretary for tho Home Department, has been amicably arranged. Nubar Pasha has withdrawn his resignation, and both will remain in oiiice.
