A t tho Supreme Court yesterday, in tho Hikutaia ejectment case, the jury returned a verdict of guilty against each of the prisoners, but recommended them to the mercy of the Court. Ki.s Honor remarked that "there v;iv.- a point of law which he proposed to reserve on behalf of the defendants. He would, however, fine them £25 each, and the money might be paid into the hands of tho Registrar pending consideration by the Court of Appeal of the legal point. —William Skclly was sentenced to six months , imprisonment for larceny as a bailee. He is well connected in the Mother Country. The civil sessions of tho Supremo Court commenced to-day. In the case of Ewington v. W. L. Roes and Wi Pure, the plaintiff claimed £1300 on a. note made by the defendants in favor of G. M. Reed, and endorsed by plaintilf. It had been dishonored. The jury gave tho vendors the amount claimed, with costs. Wellington, This day. At tho Supreme Court yesterday Graham Mayso was acquitted on the charge of indecent assault. This morning Watty was sentenced to five years on each of' the two charges of forgery to which he had pleaded guilty, tho sentence to run concurrently with J.hat passed on him yesterday.—Amelia Kerr, for robbery from a dwelling, received eighteen months' imprisonment with hard labor. —Daiik'l .Sullivan, convicted of forgery, was remanded for sentence, pending" thc'rcsult of two other charges against him. . Dunkdin, Tins day. Jn the case of the New River Harbor Board v. McLeod and others, Judge Williams held that tho Board's property was liable, but, granted a new trial, with costs, on the ground of Judge Ward's misdirection.
