RACING INTELLIGENCE.
Leonato has been scratched for all engagements at the H.B. Jockey Club's Autumn meeting.
Notes by " Hippo.' I find I was not far wrong in my tips for tho Wanganui races. For the Wanganui Cup the horse I placed second won ; for tho Flyin"- Handicap I placed tho -first and second horses right; for the Derby the horse I placed first was a good second, and the one I placed second was third. The Poet's weight for the Napier Handicap will now be Bst 2lbs, he having incurred a 101b penalty by winning the Wanganui Cup. Loch Lomond has also incurred a penalty of "lbs, which will give him 12st Tibs to carry in our Handicap Hurdle Race. The only fresh horse that has shown up on the course since I last wrote is Mr W. Broughton's Ngapuke, 2 years, Pohokuri— Zoe. He is a well grown, big boned colt, but I do not think ho will have any chance of distinguishing himself at this meeting. From his appearance ho should, with age, make a good cross-country horse _ Since I last wrote very little work of interest has been dono on the training track. Had it been fine there would have been some good work dono this morning, but the weather was against it. Yesterday morning Captain Russell's Tigridia did a very good gallop. I believe the best race at our meeting, and the one in which the most interest will be taken, will bo the Nursery Plate, when tho best lot of two-year-olds that has ever been on the course will take part in it.
