N.Z. RIFLE ASSOCIATION PRIZE FIRING.

Auckland, This day.

The weather broke beautifully fine this morning, and there is a pleasant cool breeze blowing across the range. Exception was taken to the employment of Wellington markers, but the advantage of this is now seen inasmuch as that nearly all the markers engaged in A uckland did not turn up to time this morning, and consequently the shooting was delayed fully an hour and a-half.

A meeting of the executive was held on the range this morning, when the money collected at Auckland was added to the prize list as follows:—£2o was added to the Nelson match, £15 to the Canterbury match, £15 to tho Ota go match, and £10 to the Marlborough match. In the Rifle Companies challenge match the first prize was increased to £30, second £15, third £5, the fourth prize being struck out. The same alteration was made in the carbine challenge match. The total of added money is £01. This makes tho total sum for distribution abo at £600.

The Nelson match, 300 and 500 yards, open to all members, and the first match counting for the championships, commenced at 11 o'clock this morning, and the 300 yards rango has heen finished. The following are the ten highest scorers:—Johnson (Nelson) and Paynter (Nelson), each 27; Churton (Wanganui), Wallis (Wairoa), and Amodt (Wanganui), each 26; Turner (Wellington), 25; Wells (TaranaM), Remmington (Wanjranui), Harding (Blenheim), and Thomas (Thames), each 24.
