will be given in St. John's school-room tonight. The concert in aid of St. Mary's College prize fund takes place in the Taradale Public Hall this evening. Ryiner's coach leaves Newton's corner at 7 o'clock, the concert commencing at S. An open meeting of the Bond of Unity Lodye, 1.0. G.T., will be held in the Methodist school-room at S o'clock to-night, when songs, readings, recitations, aud addresses will be delivered, admission being free. The nomination of candidates. for the office of native assessor for the Waikare- : moana licensing district-takes place at the A.C. orderly room, Te Kapu, Frasertown, at noon to-morrow. Messrs Banner and Liddle's next wool sale will be held at their Spit stores at 2 p.m. to-morrow, for which 100 bales are already catalogued. Messrs Hoadley, Lyon and Co.'s fourth wool sale of this season will be held at the Hawke's Bay wool stores at 2 p.m. tomorrow. . . ■ The quarterly general meeting of ineni-r bers of the Chamber of Commerce is fixed for Friday next, at the rooms of the Chamber. Lady ratepayers are requested to record their votes for the temperance candidates at the forthcoming election of Licensing Commissioners. Frederick Harford has been adjudged a bankrupt, and the Deputy Official Assignee summons a meeting of the creditors to beheld on Monday, the 3rd March. Mrs Caro has returned to Napier. An assistant master for the Hastings district school is wanted. Mr James Shirley's fruit and vegetable garden at Taradale is for sale. The British Queen will be the next direct steamer despatched by the N.Z. Shipping Company for London, leaving Wellington early next month. An advertisement headed " Fair Play is a Jewel " will be found in another column. All goods are reduced at Messrs Blythe and Co.'s clearing sale. Adamastor's Novelty Consultation on the Christchurch Autumn Handicap is now open, the chances being 5s each. A number of new advertisements will be found in our "Wanted column."
