MARRIED THE WRONG MAN.
A remarkable story comes from St. Helou (Portland, Oregon), which is well vouched for. About six months ago twin brothers —Alfred ancl Henry Grjve-arrivcd from Kansas and settled near St. Hole.i. Thero was a very strong resemblance between them, in fact so strong that intimate iriends could scarcely tell one from the other. Henry was married, but his wife was living in Kansas. He soon made tho acquaintance of the family of John Avery, living near, including their daughter, Lottie Avery, aged nineteen. Ono night in jest, he asked her to become his wife ancl to his utter surprise she accepted, informing her mother immediately. Tho mother in a practical way, broached the subject of the date Of marriage, etc., and before Grove could recover from his surprise the details Jia'd been arranged. He immediately went to his brother Alfred, told tho story, and asked for advice. Alfred volunteered_ to personate the brother, and stand for him. Tho ceremony took place on October 21, the couple remaining at the home of the bride's parent*. Alfred foil in love with tho girl, and a week after the marriage •toldher of the deception. In her indignation she ordered him from the house. She then informed hor parents, and the father started after his aon-in-law with a shotgun, and has followed Alfred to New York, where he is supposed to have fled.
