The outward passengers and mails were taken off to tho Union Company's s.s. Taiaroa at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the steamer leaving the bay for Southern ports about an hour later. Her Melbourne cargo and passengers are to bo transhipped to the Tarawera jit Duuedin. The Taiaroa is telegraphed as having arrived in Wellington at 12.10 p.m. yesterday. The Shaw Savill and Albion Company's barquo Pleiades, Captain W. Setten, was towed well clear of the Pania reef by the steamer Kiwi on Saturday afternoon, but owing to tho lightness and adverseness of tho wind did not get clear of tho bay until iaHfc night. Sho should, however, with tho presont breoze, be making good uso of her time.

The stonracr Kiwi, Captain James Campbell, got inside at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, discharged a small quantity of her cargo, and is finishing , to-day. Her cargo which is a full one, includes transhipment goods out of the Amazon from New York* tho steamer Victory and ship.s Lady Jocelyn and Aorangi from London. The Kiwi leaves for Wellington and the coast at 7 o'clock to-night. Tho Union Steamship Company's s.s. Wairarapa, Capt. Chatfield, from Southern ports and Melbourne, reached here at 3.15 p.m. on Saturday, and her mails and passengers went oil'to tho Wairarapa at 7 p.m., the steamer quiting the bay for the North at 8 p.m. She reached Gisborno at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. Tho steamer Weka, Capt. John Campbell, returned from Gisborno yesterday afternoon, bringing 80 bales of wool. Sho is to leave for Blackhead to-night. The p.s. Miinaia, Capt. Baxter, got back from Wairoa at ( J o'clock yesterday morning, bringing several passengers. She is to leave again for the same place at 11.30 toThe Messrs Shaw Saville and Albion Company's barque Lochnagar, Captain Pornani, W now within a bale or two of being full, and is expected to sail to-mor-row.

The Tara-wora arrived at the Bluff yesterday morning after a most successful passage round the Sounds. Glorious weathor prevailed throughout. The ketch Catlin, which Bank in Cathn 8 river, is insured in tho New Zealand office for J5500. It is not yet known whether tho operations to raise her will be successful.
