Tho Methodist Free Church, Oarlyle street, celebrates its anniversary to-morrow, the Rev. H. B. Redstone preaching the sermons incidental to the occasion. The ladies school at St. Joseph's Monastery and Miss Tronwith's school at the Spit re-open on Monday, and Mrs Withers' school term also commences on Monday. Entries for Mr Stock's Handicap and Consolation races, by members of the Wanderers' Bicycle Club, close on Monday next. On Wednesday next an excursion train leaves Napier for the racecourse platform at 8.45 a.m., returning at 6.30 p.m. Messrs Hoadley, Lyon and Co. offer to public competition at the ram fair at Hastings on Wednesday a number of pure Lincoln rams, bred by Mr T. Tanner, of Riverslea. Catalogues and all particulars will be obtainable on Tuesday. Classes re-assemble at the Napier Ladies College on Monday, 4th February, the enrolment of new pupils taking place on Friday next. A meeting of householders in the Petane district will be held on Friday evening next at Villers' Hotel, to make arrangements for the management of the cemetery. Messrs Hoadley, Lyon and Co. sell 50 pure Lincoln rams, bred at Auckland, in lots to suit purchasers, at the Spit on Friday next. Tho sheep are now on view at Messrs Kinross and Co.'s yards. Mr G. Scarfe offers himself as a candidate for election to the Napier School Committee. Madame Politz lias removed to Jersey Cottage, Shakespearo road. . Mr Ryan, auctioneer, wants to purchase storo and fat wethers, and announces terms on which he will undertake transactions in atock of any description. Mr Dugleby invites tenders for painting the Bank of New Zealand at Waipukurau. Mr Scarfe received to-day a consignment of fresh smoked schnapper and mullet from Auckland. Mr W. A. Beocroft has a vehicle to meet all trains at Hastings, and passengers "will be conveyed to any part of the district at reasonable fares. Messrs Cazneau and Connolly's photographic studio in Hastings street will be opened for business on Monday, 4th proximo. The Standard Sewing Machine Company, Hastings street, and Mr C. Selig, Hastings, have been appointed sole agents for Hawke's Bay for the Universal paper dress patterns, inspection of which are invited. Messrs Hardy and Sidey are offering table and dessert cutlery and electro-plated forks and spoons at popular prices, also all furnishing ironmongery.
