FIRES.
Auckland, This day. The Corromandel Junction Hotel at Tiki, the property of Mr Kelly, was totally destroyed by fire on Thursday night. Nothing was saved. There was no insurance as far as is known. The origin of the fire is shrouded in mystery. "Wellington , , This day. A house belonging to Mr W. J. Ridden at Petone was destroyed by firo last night. The origin is unknown. The building was insured in the Royal office for £150, and the furuituro in the same office for £100. A small portion of tho furniture was saved. Dunedin, Thia day. By a firo at Lawrence on Wednesday evening Mr Talcher's store was burned down. Besides his own stock of building materials, goods stored for others were burned, probably altogether valued at £300, and quite uncovered by insurance. The premises were insured in the Colonial Office for £150. Incendiarism is suspected.
