PORT OF NAPIEE
ARRIVALS
January. 24—Southern Cross, s.s.. from Wellington. Passengers —Mr and Mrs Lowter, Messrs Todd and Richmond Dunn.
Tho Union Steamship Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Rots, arrived in tho roadstead from Wellington at about 9 o'clock last night, and was brought inside and berthed at the breastwork tho first thing this morning. She brings sorao 45 tons of cargo for this port, including transhipment goods out of the ships Aorangi and Marguret Galbraith from London, the Waihora from Melbourne, the Waihi from Blenheim, and the Wanaka from Akaroa. The Cross was to steam from the wharf for Gisborne and Auckland at 4 p.m. this day. The steamer Kiwi was to have left Wellington for the coast and Napier last night, and will be due here to-morrow morning. She will be sailing again for Wellington the same evening. The Wairoa steamers Manaia and Maori are still detained in port by the heavy southerly sea which is running in the bay. . The Union Company's steamer Taiaroa left Auckland at 12.30 p.m. yesterday, with 13 tons of cargo and 50 sheep for this port. She is due here at daylight to-morrow morning, will bo tendered in the bay in the usual way, and at 2 p.m. is announced to steam for southerly ports. _ Any Melbourne passengers aroing by her will be transferred to tho Tamwera at Port Chalmers.
The steamer Weka, which left here at the beginning of the present week for Gisborne, is telegraphed as having only arrived there at 8 a.m. this day. Tho Union Company's steamer Wairarapa is expected to be leaving Wellington tonight, being duo hero to-morrow. The s.s. Omapere is to leave Dunedin on Monday for the North via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and will be due here on Friday next.

Sydney, Thursday. Arrived, this morning, Union steamship Wakatipu from Wellington. Sailed, this afternoon, Union steamship Ringarooma for Auckland. (Received January 25, 0.5.5 a.m.) Adelaide, Thursday.
Arrived, this morning, Messagerics Maritimes Company's steamer Sydney from Marseilles (Left December 19).

Arrived, Hauroto from Sydney. During tho passage a steerage passenger named Georgo Logan died of delirium tremens. His luggage was labelled " Blne.skin, Otago," where the deceased's brother is said to reside. Another passenger who was in delirium tremens was taken into custody by the police on the steamer's arrival. Wkllinoton, This day. Tho Agont-General telegraphs, under date 23rd inst., the sailing of the following steamers with immigrants:—Ruapehu with 182 for Auckland, and Florida with 248 for Ofago.
