LONDON,
January 5. Tho cargo, comprising 4000 carcases of frozen sheep, per Orient steamship Chimborazo, has been examined and found in good condition. A portion of the frozen mutton ex Teviotdale has been sold at an average of od per lb. January 0. The British Government, in reply to the note recently received from the Egyptian Government, in which tho latter asked for England's assistance in tho Soudan, has insisted that the Egyptian troops now at Khartoum shall be withdrawn to tho second cataract on tho Nile. January 7. It has further transpired, in connection with tho reply to tho Egyptian note, that the Government has stated that ifc is not opposed to the despatch of a Turkish expedition to tho Soudan, provided the whole expenso of such an expedition is borne by Turkey,
