FLOATING OF THE TRIUMPH.

Auckland, This day. The following account has been received regarding the floating operations: —Tho hatches were battened down, steam got up, and the water pumped out, and at high water sho floated off. A gale rising her hawsers parted, and at one time it was feared she would drift on to the Shearer rock. The men were working up to the waist in water in the stoke-hole, and owing to the list of the vessel it was difficult to punrp her. At ono time fears wero entertained for the lives of all on board, but Mr Fisher, tho engineer of the vessel, dived to the door of compartment No. 2 and let the water into it, which rendered tho vessel more stable and equable. The Triumph at last got to the lee of Tiritiri, where desperate efforts were mado to keep the water under till tho steam tugs that had been signalled for arrived and steps could bo taken to reduce the water in the stoke-hole, which threatened to put out tho fires. On the steamers arriving the worst was over. All engaged on tho Triumph deserve great praise for their courage.
