(Before Captain Preece, R.M.) There were eight cases set down tor hearing, but as there was no appearance of either party in three cases they were struck out. Tho following business was then disposed of : —■ Hansen v. Ready.—Claim £3 13s 6d for rails supplied and work done. The defendant disputed the claim on the ground that the rails supplied were some of them useless. Judgment was given for the plaiutiff for £1 3s Gd, and costs 18s. Ready v. Hansen.—Claim £2 7s. Judgment for the plaintiff for £1 ss, and costs 18s.

Thomas Burnos v. Peter Erickson.—Claim for £4 17s 2d. The plaintiff stated that he was engaged with the defendant to fence and stump a paddock at Danevirke, and the amount in dispute arose from tho fact

that the defendant had received the money

for tho work done, but he had not given the fcvplaintiff his share of the amount. Judgment for tho plaiutiff for amount claimed and costs. John Chalmers v. J. Davie. —Claim for £13 13s for catllo trespassing. Tho plaintiff hero enumerated the cattle which were said to havo been trespassing, charging one shilling per head a day. In answer to questions put by the defendant, tho plaintiff admitted that it was in tho terms of his

lease to fence, but he had not done so. The defondant repudiated tho claim on the ground, in consequence of the plaintiff's land not being fenced, it was impossible to keop his cattle off while driving them to and fro. Judgment for plaintiff for £2 lOIS, and costs 19s. J. Davie v. Chalmers.—Claim £13 lis of cattle trespass. This was a counter action, the merits of the case being similar to the one just heard. Judgment for plaintiff for £ I ss, and costs 19s The magistrate remarked that they would be bettor employed making fences than taking such cases to Court.
