ARRIVALS

December. 29—Southern Cross, s.s , from Wellington. 29—Enterprise, brigantino, from Dunedin. 29—Manapouri, s.s., from Melbourne via Southern ports. Passengers—From Melbourne: Madame Polite, Messrs M. A. Fordo, A. Poyzer, William Williams, and George Williams ; from tho coast; Misses Russell, Lawson, and Richmond, Mrs Patterson and sereant, Mr and Mrs Turner, Mrs Eussell. Mrs Rogers, Rev. Mr Patterson, Messrs Fitzherbert, Chapman, D. Rogers, Nicholb, and McLean.

DEPARTURES.

December 20—Southern Cross, a.s., for Northern ports, with eleven immigrants for Poverty Bay. «, Tho Union Company's steamer Southern Cross, Capt Ross, arrived here from Wellington at an early hour this morning, and was tendered in the roadstead for her mails and cargo. The outward mnils and passengers were taken off by the launch at 8 o'clock, the Cross getting away for Gisborue and Auckland at 8.30 a.m. She took on eleven immigrants for Gisborno ox British King, landed hero a few days ago by the s.s. Go-Ahead. Tho brigantino Enterprise, Capt. Bell, which left Dunedin last Saturday week, arrived at tho anchorage this morning, and ■was brought inside and berthed at tho breastwork at 7 a.m. She brings a full cargo of grain, flour, and general cargo for various consignees, which she commenced to discharge to-day. Messrs Kinross and Co. are her agents. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Piako is to leave Auckland for this port within tho next few days, and is to succeed the ship Waikato on tho berth for London.

We learn that the steamer Kiwi is taking an intermediate trip to tho coast, and will not be leaving , Wellington for this port until "Wednesday next. Messrs Shaw, Savill and tho Albion Company's barquo Wave Q.ueon completed her loading , this morning, and was expected to clear at tho Customs this afternoon for London.

The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Manapouri, C-ipt. Logan, arrived in tho bay from Melbourne and the South at noon to-day, and was met. and tendered by launch for mails and passengers, and by tho ketch Admiral for her cargo. The following is a report of her passage, kindly favored by Mr Miller, her purser:—Left Melbourne at 5.30 p.m. on tho 19th; fresh westerly winds prevailed till noon of the 22nd instant ; thence strong northerly winds and head sea to George Sound, which was reached at 0 p.m. on the 23rd ; moved on at 7.30 p.m., and arrived at the Bluff at noon on the 2-tth; sailed again at 5.30 p.m., and arrived at Port Chalmers at 5 next morning ; left at 6 p.m. on the 26th, and an'ived at Lyttelton at 9 o'clock next morning ; moved on at 6.20 p.m. and arrived at Wellington at 6.50 yesterday morning, making the fast run of V2h hours from wharf to wharf ; sailed at ";.3O p.m., and arrived as given above. The launch ■with the outward mails and passengers for Sydney and Northern ports is announced to leave tho breastwork afc 7 o'clock to-night.

The steamer Go- A head is expected to arrive hero from Wellington by Monday morning, and will be sailing again that day.

Tho Union Steamship Company's s.s. Wairarapa is telegraphed as having left Auckland for the South at noon yesterday, having some 33 tons of cargo on board for here. She is duo in tho roadstead by daylight tq-morrow, and after being tendered in the usual way for mails, passengers, and cargo, is announced to steam for Southern ports, Ilobart, and Melbourne at 10 a.m.
