Eight gum diggers who were induced by tho representations of an ex - Auckland merchant named Oppcnheimer to go to New Caledonia write describing their experience. They declared the whole thing to bo an atrocious " sell." There is no payable gum on the island, and they aro noAV suing Oppenheimer in the local court for compensation.
