WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The Board met at 11 a.m. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Commissioners F. Sutton, M.H.It., and 11. Harding, Esq. The following correspondence was read : — From the chairman of the Auckland Frozen Meat and Storage Company,

acknowledging the receipt of tho letter communicating the Board's decision on the company's application to purchase land in the I'ohui and Maungaharuru survey districts, and stating that they will be prepared to bid at tho auction sale for the northern half of the 730-aere block in the Maungaharuru survey district, but that section 3, Block VILL, Pohui survey district, will not meet their requirements.— Received.

From W. Meredith.—Application to lease section 11A in the Bush Mills Block. —It was decided to inform the applicant that, if he signifies to the Board his willingness to lease the section on the terms ou which it has already been offered, it will be put up to auction again at thu next sale. Tt was further decided that, if tho terms do not suit the applicant, the Board now grants him permission to fell the bush one chain in width in section HA along the boundary common to his holding section 10. From the Under-Sccretary Crown Lands Derailment, stating that tho Government will forego the demand of any penalty incurred by the lessee ot tho Tarawera re-serve.-—Decided to inform Mr Grifliths.

FroinD. MoCalliuu, thanking the Board for their action in recommending tho Government to reserve a section at Danevirke for a recreation ground. —ltcceivcd. Application from G. Gilbert, of Kumeroa, to pay up the balance of the purchase money on section 16, Block IX., Tahoraite survey district. —Ordered to stand over till the Ranger's report on the improvements is received, the Chairman to deal with the matter if the necessary improvements have been completed. From T. Layson, asking the Board to expedite the payment of the jC3conpensation due to him for the road taken through his section, No. 12, in tho Bush Mills settlement. —Received.

Report No. 213 from the Crown Lands Ranger on the improvements made on section ' 11, Bush Mills settlement.— Received.

Two applications to purchase land in the villnpro of Kumeroii from James and William Austis. —Approved. Tho Board decided to sell on deferred payment -['661 acres in Block 14, Tahoraitc survey district. The Board also decided to recommend the Government to proclaim the liecet-sarr education and school .sites.
