The Napier Fire Brigade hold their annual display of fireworks in the recreation ground to-night, commencing at 8 o'clock, and the members of the Brigade are requested to meet at the station at G. 30 p.m. A tram leaves for Hastings after the exhibition. . The regular monthly meeting of the Victoria Lodge of Freemasons will be_ held at 7.30 this evening, when the installation of officers will take place. The summoned half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Napier Lodge of Oddfellows will be held to-morrow evening. A dramatic and musical performance will be given in the Public Hall, Taradale, tomorrow evening by the local Amateur Club. Mr Lyndon will sell by auction at his mart on Saturday damaged goods ox Triumph, and Californian onions, and tea. Major Routledge publishes the Volunteer district orders for' the month of January, aud Captain Blythe issues company orders for tho Rillo V-l_ntc_i». The annual meeting of St. John's Branch of the H.A.C.B.S. will be held in the usual place on Wednesday evening next. A head master for the Port Ahuriri district school is wanted. Harding's 1884 Ahnanacis now published. The result of Joker's sweep on the Hastings Handicap is announced. Tho Public Works Department invite tenders for the erection of a jetty at Castle Point. "Boaz," care of Mr Mosely, box 3;>l, Tost Office, Dunedin, has a consultation similar to the Hamburg money prizes, now open, tho tickets being 10s each. Mr A. Williams challenges Mr T. E. Gunter to dance him for £25 a side. Messrs Blythe and Co. arc selling imitation cabbage tree hats for Is each. A number of new advertisements will be fouud in our " Wanted " column.
