EDUCATIONAL MATTERS IN WESTLAND.
HoKiTiKA, This day,
Education Board matters hero arc in a position of inextricable confusion. The people are iudignarit that no teachers' salaries have been paid since October last, and there is no present prospect of their being paid. Mr FitzGerald, M.H.R., was requested by tho people of Westland to proceed to Wellington to interview the Minister of Education and endeavor to get the Act that was passed last session, sub-dividing this district from the Grey district, brought into operation. A telegram from Mr FitzGerald states that the present Board will not consent to the elections for a new Board until tho outstanding liabilities of the old Board arc paid.
