At the Supreme Court the only criminal case was against Evans and Halpine, indicted for stealing property in tho assigned estate of Mrs Hutchison, and against Daniel Davidson for receiving same. _ The jury found a A'erdict of guilty against Evans and Davidson, and accpiitted Halpine. Tho Judge said the case Avas not one of ordinary larceny, and the defendant's evident desire Avas to do a good turn to Mrs Hutchison. Sentence of ono month's imprisonment without hard labor ivas passed.
