LONDON.
December 5. Tho scientific expedition to explore Now Guinea has been formed under tho sanction
of the Royal Geographical Association. The v leader of the expedition is Mr Wilfred Rawoll, who on tho 15th ultimo read a paper on Now Guinea at the Colonial Institute.
Captain Kennedy, who has been associated with General Mficlvor in promoting a trading expedition to New Guinea, intends to Bail to-morrow with a party which has been formed. They will embark at Havre, and on arrival at New Guinea hoist the French flag. The party will call at Brisbane en route for Now Guinea.
It is now considered -probable that France will relinquish all claim to tho Now Hebrides if sho is allowed to occupy and obtain permanent possession of Raitea.
