It is rumored that, unless a guarantee bo forthcoming from the settlors, Dr Denton will in all probability leave this district. The worthy doctor has discovered that the Wairoa is a particularly healthy district, and a remunerative practice is therefore impossible. AVhilo we cannot but regret Dr Denton's probable departure, we must congratulate ourselves on tbe fact that Wairoa, with its thousand inhabitants, is about the healthiest place in all New Zealand.

Mr Light, owner of the s.s. Maori, has purchased from Messrs T. and AY. Torr the steam launch Echo, lately employed as upriver tender to the p.s. Manaia.
