Tho Takapuna races were held to-dn^-. The attendance Avas good, andthc races were well contested. The folloAving are the results of the principal events : — Spring Handicap, six furlongs.—Mitraillouse, 1 ; Snider, 2 ; Paramena, 3. Handicap Hurdles, two miles and a distance.—Chandler, 1 ; Harkaway, 2.
St. Andrew's Handicap, H- miles.—Yuba Bill, 1 ; AVoodpccker, 2; Golden Crown, 3. Handicap Steeplechase, three miles.— Chandler, 1 ; Christmas, 2 ; Fly, 3. Stewards' Plate, ono mile—Yuba Bill, 1 ; Mitrailleuse, 2 ; Snider, 3. Wellington, Saturday.
The Island Bay races to-day Avere largely attended, upwards of 2000 persons being present. Maiden Plato.—Ruby King, 1 ; Swordsman, 2 ; Egmont, 3. Hurdles.—Scrutineer, 1; Bob, 2 ; Liability, 3. Island Bay Cup.—Dan, 1; Camellia, 2 ; Satellite, 3. flying Stakes.—Ruby King, 1; Mountain Deer, 2 ; Egmont, 3. Final Flutter.—Uncle Tom, 1. Goldsmith Handicap.—Gabble, 1; Mountain Deer 2.
Dunedin, Saturday
The attendance at the races to-day Avas about GOO. Shortly after the first race Avas decided heavy rain fell. The proceedings opened with the Hunter's Plate, for Avhich five acceptors started. Wild Boy Avas installed first favorite, but after going a mile and a quarter fell on the flat, and Avas pulled up limping. It is unlikely that ho Avill race again. Encore ran round the first hurdle. A desperate race ensued all tho way up tho straight betAveen Little John and Melbourne, and resulted in favor of the former by a short head. Karearea Avas third. Time, lmins. 15secs.
In tho President's Handicap Taiaroa romped home, Violin second, Hippodamia a poor third, and Blue Jacket, who Avas left at the post, last. Time, 2mins. 17secs. In the Novel Race Prosporo made all the running, but Hazard came up at the finish and won in a very hollow style. First King Avas tho only other starter. For tho Grand Stand Handicap Lady Emma, Tho Jilt, AVater Nymph, and Epicure started, and the former Avon easily.
Emir Bey, Tho Painter, Captain AVcbstcr, Epicure, and Violin came to the post for the Members' AVelter Plate, and Emir Boy won.
This day. Shillelagh, the winner of Friday's Trot, died in his box on Saturday.
