Stud Horses. at Kilbarohan, and two at Johnstone, in Renfrewshire, two at Crieff, in Perthshire, one at Biggar, in Lanarkshire, and was t selected by the Biggar Agricultural Society to serve in that district the following season. His dam, Guess, was a very celebrated mare by the famous horse Clydo. She was bred by Mr Holmes, Kilmalcolm, and was the winner of several prizes. Young Watty's dam Avas a pure Clydesdale mare, the winner of seA'oral prizes, AA'hose sire ivas North Briton, the property of Mr Hall, Aberdeen, and bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbeath, Dumfrieshire. His siro was that far-famed horso Samson, Ai'hich gained. many first prizes, belonging to Mr Stevens, Park Farm, AVest Lothian. North Briton's dam Avas a pure Ch/desdale mare (bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbeath) who was dam of five other stallions, all Avinners of first prizes. North Briton was also tho winner of several first, and was the first horse drawn. at Forfar when rising four years old ; the following year he gained the second prizo at tho Highland Society's Show, and the second year he gained the prize of £30 at Cupar Fife. He has also gained many other prizes. Young Watty's granddam was also a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr Taylor, ToAvill; got by that Avell-known horse The Sovereign. She gained tho Highland Society's first prizo Avhen a two-year-old, besides a great many other prizes, thus showing Young Watty has descended from he best blood Scotland can produce. Lord Castlereagii's dam, Violet, by Sir Colin Campbell, his sire King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, is a Pure Clydesdale mare, bred by the late David Leivis, Esq., Lincoln-road. She gained first prize as a > yearling at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Slioav in 1870 ; also at tho same time taking Mr Wall's Five Guinea Cup, for the best Colt or Filly, by Sir Colin Campbell, on the ground. In 1871 sho gained tho first prize at the Ellesmere Agri- ' cultural Society's Show as a two-year-old. In 1872 she took second prize at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show, and ' first at the Ellesmere Agricultural Show in the same year. In 1873 sho was shoivn amongst imported mares at the Canterbury Agricultural Slioav, at which she gained ; second prize, and first at the Ellesmere ! Agricultural Slioav for dry mares same year. In 1876 she gained second prize amongst imported marcs at the Ellesmere show ; and in 1877, 1878, and 1879 sho was 1 first at Ashburton for brood mares, and Champion for the best mare on tho ground. 1 In 1880 Afolet took in Timaru third prize, and first prize for the best mare with two of her progeny. Iv 1881, at Timaru, she took first prize for tho best brood mare, and first prize for the best mare with two of her progeny. In 1882, took first prize for the best mare with tivo of her progeny. Lord Castlereaoh Avas shown at Ellesmere Show in IS7B, and took first prize, and the special prize of Three Guinea Cup for ' the best three-year-old entires, and first prize in Christchurch the same year, and ' Avas shown at Timaru in 1880, and took third prize. In 1881, at Timaru, ho took A first prize, beating six competitors. In 1882, Ist prize for the Best Bred Horse, Ist prizo for nil Aged Horses and Champion Prize, 10 guinea Cup for tbe best horse on the ground.
