The catalogue at to-day's avool sale comprised 10,800 bales. Firm auction and active demand. November 27. The yacht Vestal, Avhich is being filled at Shorcham, overturned and filled Avit.li Avater. The proposed race to Australia between tho Vestal and the ship Northern Monarch Avill therefore not take place. In view of tho possible outbreak of war between Franco and China orders ha\ r e been issued for tho prompt reinforcement of tho China squadron. Parleying has commenced between the British and French Governments Avith a view of arranging a settlement of tho Tonquin difficulty by friendly mediation between France and China.
