The local agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received from tho London office of the company the following telegram under date tho 21th instant:— Competition for wool is increasing and market is firmer. Home buyors aro purchasing freely, but _ foreign buyers arc not operating with spirit. Up to date 37,000 bales have been sold. Long staple merino scoured — market firmer. Crossbred has advanced -id to Id per lb. The s:ile programmo has been curtailed by three days.
