BANK OF NEAV SOUTH AVALES

The following is the sixty-sixth report of tho directors of the Bank of New South AVales to the half-yearly general meeting of tho proprietors, held at the Chief Banking House, on AVednesday, the 3-lst of October, 1883: —

The directors have tho pleasure to submit ( to the proprietors a statement of the assets and liabilities of tho bank on tho 30th ultimo,. Avith the auditors' report and declaration. The net profits for tho halfyear, after deducting rebate on current bills, interest on deposits, providing for bad and doubtful debts, and reducing valuation of bank premises, amount to £98,147 Is Id, to Avhich is to bo added the undivided balance from last half-year, £0539 Os Id, giving for distribution £104,080 7s 2d, Avhich the directors recommend to be apSropriatcd as follows: —To payment of ivideud at Iho rate of 15 per cent, per annum, £75,000 ; to bonus at tho rate of '2!j per cent, per annum, £12,500 ; to augmentation of (he reserve fund, £10,000 ; to balance carried to " profit, and loss," new account, £7180 7s 2d; total, £104,G50 7s 2d. AVith the above appropriation tho resci-A-o fund -will amount to £530,000. Tho dividend -will bo payable at the head office to-morroAV, and at tho branches on receipt of advice. Tho total quantity of Avheat afloat for the United Kingdom, to-day is returned at 1,850,000 quarters, and increase of 100,000 quarters during the week. Australian talloAv is improving, prices having to-day advanced Gd per cwt. Best beef is quoted at 3Ss Od, and best mutton at 39s Cd.
