OTAGO AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
Dunedin, This day
The seventh annual show in connection with the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association was commenced at the Forbury Park racecourse yesterday. Tho wretched weather which has prevailed lately gave anything but a pleasant anticipation on tbat soore, but fortunately the morning broke beautifully fine, and throughout the whole of the day the weather could not possibly have been better. The only drawback was that the water which had collected on the ground had not entirely drained off. It was feared that a large number of entries would not be forthcoming, but this was not so, and the ground allotcd to the Association was found to be rather small for tho proper placing of the exhibits. Mr Gcmmell, of Maheno, however, could get none of his Ayrcshire stock down owing to the washing away of the Maheno bridge, and Mr Sutton, of Southland, also had none of his Lincoln sheep on tho ground. Mr Menlove, of Oamaru, took the principal honors in shorthorn stock, and Messrs A. and J. M'Farlano in Ayrcshires. Mr M'Master, of Oamaru, took the champion prizes in merino sheep. Mr John Reid, of Oamaru, took the 20 guinea cup for the ten best sheep for refrigerating purposes. Messrs Reid and Gray took principal honors in implements, and there was an interesting lot of colonial manufactures aud manufacturing exhibits generally.
