North Briton's dam was a pure Clydesdale marc (bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbeath) who Avas dam of five other stallions, all Avinners of first prizes. North Briton was also the Avinner of several first, and was the first horse draAvn at Forfar Avhen rising four years old; the folloAving year he gained tho second prize at tho Highland Societ3 r 'i Slioav, and the second j-ear lie gained tho prize of £30 at Cupar Fife. He has also gained many other prizes. Young AVatty's grnnddam was also a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr Taylor, ToAvill; got by that Avoll-known horse The Sovereign. She gained the Highland Society's first prize Avhcn a two-year-old, > besides a great many other prizes, thus shoAving Young AVatty has descended from the best blood Scotland can produce. Lokb Castleheagu's dam, ATolet, by Sir Colin Campbell, his sire King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, is a Pure Clydesdale marc, bred by the late David LeAvis, Esq., Lincoln-road. She g-ained first prize as a yearling at tho Canterbury Agricultural Society's Slioav in 1870 ; also at tho same time taking Mr AVnll's Eive Guinea Cup, for the best Colt or Filly, by Sir Colin Campbell, on the ground. In 1871 sho gained the first prize at thoEllesmerc Agricultural Society's Slioav as a tAvo-ycar-old. In 1872 she took second prize at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show, and first at the Ellcsmcro Agricultural Slioav in the same year. In 1873 sho was shown amongst imported mares at the Canterbury Agricultural Slioav, at Avhich she gained. second prize, and first at the Ellcsmcro Agricultural Show for dry mares same your. In 187G she gained seconel prize amongst imported mares at the Ellcsmcro show ; anel in 1877, 1878, and 1870 shoAA-as first at Ashburton for brood marcs, and Champion for the best mare ou the ground. In 1880 ATolet took in Timaru third prize, and first prize for the best mare witb two of her progeny. In 1881, at Timaru, sho took first prize for the best brood mare, aid first prize for the best mare AA-ith tAA'o of her progeny. In 18S2, Alolet took first prizes' for the best mare with tAvo of her progeny. Lokij Castlekeaoh Avas slioavii at Elles-mei-e Slioav in 1878, and took first prize, and the special prize of Three Guinea Cup for the best three-year-old entires, and first prize in Christchurch the same year, and Avus slioavii at Timaru iv ISSO, and took third prize. In 1881, at Timaru, he took first prize, beating six competitors. In 1882, Ist prize for the Best Bred Horse, Ist prize for all Aged Horses and Champion Prize, 10 guinea Cup for the best horse on the ground.
