Eugene Rouher, the eminent French statesman, is reporteel to be seriously ill. November 7. Sir Wm. Morgan's funeral Avas very largely attended, especially by old colonists. Amongst those present Avere Messrs Blythe, Harkcr, Fowler, Neville, Blyth, Goodwin, Main, Young, Harold, Marchant, Cuthbcrtson, Finlayson, Turnbull, William Wilson, Higginson, Brown, Green, Bacon, anel Gretton. The chief mourners Avere the deceased's son, his two sisters, and their husbands. Mr MurraySmith and Sir Saul Samuel sent apologies for unavoidable absence. Sir William avus buried by the side of his parents. Canon Macauley officiated at the obscipries. November S. The Rev. Dr Alfred Barry, avlio Avas recently appointoil to tho Metropolitan Sco of Sydney, is declining many offers of | clerical assistance until ho has mado himself acquainted with the wants of his diocese. it is rumored that the English man-of-Avar Dryad has been withdrawn from TamataA-e at the reepiest of France. November 9. Tlie Standard reports that M. Ferry has given assurances that France has no intention of annexing New Guinea, or, indeed, of attempting any further annexation in the Pacific. A new constitution has been granted to Jamaica, gi\'ing it partly elccti\ r e Chambers. Mr Trcvelyan, tho Secretary for Ireland, declines to sanction an extensive scheme of Irish emigration. Russia is mobilising an army division at Pokot, and all furloughs have been recalled.
