The steamer Maori, Capt. Anderson, sailed for Wairoa at a few minutes past_ 11 o'clock last night, and is reported as having arrived there at an early hour this morning. The foro-and-aft schooner Saucy Kale, Capt. J. Lewis, arrived here yesterday afternoon from Auckland, having a cargo on board consisting of some SO tons of dram pipes consigned to Mr John Orr, winch she is discharging to-day at the breastwork. The Union Company s steamer larawera, Capt. Sinclair was to have left Auckland for Southern ports and Melbourne at midday to-day, and will be duo in our harbor by daylight on Sunday morning, being announced to steam on her way southward at 10 a.m. Tho p.s. Manaia is to leave for Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, carrying cargo and passengers. The s.h. Kiwi is telegraphed as having loft Wellington for Napier and Castle Point .at 6.15 p.m. yesterday, and should arrive in port by Saturday morning, in which case she would get away in tho afternoon again for Wellington. Tho Union Company's steamer Rotorua is not expected to arrive hero from the South before Sunday forenoon, as she has had to wait in Port Chalmers to tranship the Melbourne passengers and cargo from the s.s. Hauroto. The Rotorua's departure from this port for the North has been extended until 5 p.m. on Sunday. A topsail sclu oner, apparently the Zior, Capt. Moore, brought up in the roadstead from the South at midday to-day, flying a signal that a pilot was unnecessary, so that she has in all probability merely called _in for provisions or orders. No communication had been held with her from the shore up to tho time our report left the Spit.
(By Cable.) London, October 31. The Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Association report the arrival of the ship Rakaia from Lyttelton (left August 6). Sydney, Thursday. Sailed, this afternoon, City of New York, for San Francisco via Auckland. She takes £122,000 in specie. Mrs Hampson, the evangelist, is a passenger. Iby telegraph.] Dunedin, This day. Arrived. Hauroto from Melbourne via the Bluff. Passenger for Napier—Mr C. C. Murray. Christchurch, This day. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received a cablegram dated London, October 31, stating that the Tongariro left Plymouth at midnight on October '20th for Port Chalmers and Lyttelton. The Doric, on her homeward passage, arrived at Rio on October 28th, at'ler tho quickest passage to that port by one of the direct steamers. IJcv refrigerators were working satisfactorily, and. tho frozen moat was in excellent condition. The Rakaia, from Lyttelton, has arrived in the English channel after a passage of 85 days.
