October 31. The debate on tho eastern policy of the Government was resumed in the Chamber of Deputies to-day. In the course <rta speech on the position of affairs in lonquin M. Ferry averred that there was no expectation of war with China, neither France nor that country being desirous of an appeal to arm 3. A vote of confidence in the
Government was, at the close of the debate, carried by a substantial majority.
