The fifth annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay District, A.0.F., takes place in the Foresters' Hall, Dickens-street, at 7 o'clock to-night. The inauguration of the Bluo Ribbon movement, and the first anniversary of the Work and Win Lodge, will be celebrated in the Town Hall, Hastings, at 7.30 this evening. Mr H. Hill delivers a lecture on the land question in Trinity Church school-room at 8 o'clock to-night, admission to which is Entries for the handicap riflo match, to be fired on Saturday afternoon on tho Petane ransre, must be in the hands of the hon. sec.7 Mr Girdlestone, by noon to-morrow. > The remains of W. AVoolston's residence, Shakespeare road, for the Spit at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. A public temperance meeting will be held in the Good Templar lodge-room, Port Ahuriri, to-morrow evening. ,JLola Montes consultation ou the Melbourne Cup closes in Napier to-morrow. Mr Jacobs is the local agent. The time for receiving tenders for additions to the Napier Hospital is extended till Saturday. Mr Monteith sells trap horses and hacks, spring cart and harness, and produce at the Horse Bazaar on Saturday. The dissolution of the partnership between Henry John Axford and Charles Mackenzie as millers at Omahu is announced. Persons indebted to or having claims against the partnership are requested to send same to Mr Garner, accountant, Napier. A variety of useful and ornamental articles will be offered at the Methodist Free Church bazaar, to be held in the Protestant Hall on the Ist, 2nd, and 3rd proximo. Mr 11. Williams, ironmonger, is just opening fenders and. fire irons and iron safes, specially good value. Prices are quoted fer drapery and clothing, kc, which are being offered to the ladies and gentlemen of Napier at Messrs Radford and Co.'s great drapery sale, next the Horse Bazaar, Hastings street.
On and after Ist proximo Mr Filth's express will meet every train to Hastings, taking passengers and goods to any part of tho district, Mr Frith will also run a twohorsc coaeli to Maraekakaho on Tuesdays and Fridays, leaving Hasting.-, at 9 a.m., and returning at 2 p.m. The Ciydcslale stallion Laird O'Stonebyres staiids this season at Mount Erin ; and the thoroughbred entire Young Campden travels hot ween Moteo, Taradale, and Puketapu on Tuesdays and Fridays. A broken-haired ' terrier has been lost, from the Spit ; anyone returning same to Star Hotel will be' rewarded, and anyone detaining the clog aft/a- this will be prosenit od.
