FIRE IN A WAREHOUSE.

Auckland, This day,

A fire broke out at 9 o'clock last night in the upper floor of the warehouse of Mr Arthur Heather, merchant, Custom-house street, but it was suppressed by tbe Fire Brigade. The damage done by tlie fire itself would only amount to a few hundred pounds, but considerable damage is believed to have been caused by the water which flooded the ground floor and cellar. The insurance on the warehouse is £2000 in the Norwich Union office. Tho following are the insurances on the stock :—Northern, .-£.2000 ; National, £1000 ; United, £3000 (£2OOO reinsured in the South British) : Union, £0000 (£IOOO re-insured in the North British); Colonial, £3000 (£IOOO re-insured in the Phoenix).
