HOTEL DESTROYED BY FIRE.
Auckland, This day.
The Rangariri Hotel, bettor known in coaching days as Shirley's, was burnt down at 1 a.m. ou Saturday. The owner was in toAvn, and the man in charge was so much the worse for liquor that ho could not carry a bucket of water to help to extinguish the flames. Messrs Gerrand and Pulforth, adjacent storekeepers, worked hard, and with the help of others saved nearly every article of furniture. The adjoining cottages also were saved. The insurance is believed to be £.'l5O ou the hotel building in the South British office.
