ARRIVALS
October. 20—Ringarooma, s.s., from Sydney, via Auckland and Gisborne. PassengersMiss Townlcy, Mesdames McLean, Carroll, Townlcy, and Barrio, Masters O'Mallcy (2) and Rathbone, tho Bishop of AVellington, Messrs AVilliams, J. Morrison, MacKinnon, Carrick, Prebble, Rothschild, D. C. Cameron, Fisher, Blanckense, AVallis, AVilliams, T. Hester, Banbury, R. Koutaomi, Peti Keutaomi, and seven in the steerage. « Tho Union Company's steamer Ringarooma, Captain Carey, at the anchorage at 0 o'clock this morning from Sydney via Northern ports, and was at once tendered for mails, passengers, and cargo by the launch Boojum and lighters Sir Donald and Three Brothers. The following is a report of the Ringarooma's passage "kindly furnished by Mr Guy, her purser: —Loft Sydney on the llth instant; called at Auckland on the lGth, and Gisborne on the 19th, leaving the latter place at 7 p.m. the same day. Experienced north-easterly winds and thick weather almost throughout the passage. The outward passengers and mails will bo taken out at _ o'clock this afternoon, the Ringarooma, steaming for the South and Melbourne after their transhipment. The p.s. Manaia's departure for AVairoa has had to be indefinitely postponed, on account of the present southerly weather. The steamer Fairy was taken up on North's slip this morning to undergo an overhaul. The steamer Kiwi, Captain Campbell, which was to have left for Wellington at a late hour last night, has had to postpone her departure until to-morrow, on account of the unpromising state of tho weather. The Union Company's steamer AVairarapa, Capt. Ghatfiold, from the South, which left AVellington at 5 o'clock last night, was signalled when our report left *ho Spit, and would probably arrive in port shortly after 1 o'clock. She would be tendered by tho launch immediately on arrival for mails and passengers, and by the lighters Sir Donald and Admiral for her cargo, some G5 tons. Tho AVairarapa is to steam for Northern _iorts at 5 o'clock this evening. Tho steamer Taiaroa, duo here to-morrow from tho South, was to have left Wellington at 1 p.m. this day, and should arrive in port at about 9 or 10 o'clock to-morrow morning. She will be lightered in tlic bay as usual by the launch for mails and passengers, and by the lighters for her cargo, and some 24 tons. The Taiaroa is announced to steam for Gisborne, Tauranga, and Auckland at 4 p.m. to-morrow. [by telegraph.] Dunedin, This day. Arrived, Nelson from Glasgow, all well, 78 days out. Christchurch, This day. The Now Zealand Shipping Company havo received a cablegram stating that their new steamship tho Tongariro, has left the Clyde for London. On the trial trip which took place on October 17lh she averaged 14-G knots, and has a sea-going speed of not less than 13 knots. Her gross register is 4015 tons.- She will leave London for Port Chalmers or Lyttelton this month.
