[IIV TELEGRAPH.] AVanganui, This day. I Tho AV.J.C. Spring mooting avrs hold yesterday in heavy rain from morning till night. Tho course was very heavy, and there was slow racing time in consequence. Notwithstanding the Aveather, thcro Avas a large attendance, including a good sprinkling of ladies, but the total number Avas at least 500 less than at the last spring meeting. There Avas scarcely any betting', and only one totalisator, through which £970 passed, the dividends being fair on nearly every event. The racing- was j_-ood throug-liout-The victories in the Hurdles and Handicap Avorc both very popular, and Mr J. 0. Evett, tho handicapper, Avith Avhosc handicaps great fault Avas found in the district, avus cheered by the crowd after tho race for the big money.
