Sue. the well-known horse Young Watty, imperial to Victoria by Mr Durham. Young Watty Avas bred by the Duke of Beaufort, Badminton; he obtained second prize at the Agricultural Slioav hold at Gloucester, beating fourteen others ; Avhon two years .old ho obtained the first prize at the Cirencester meeting, beating several three-year-olds. Ho Avas then sold logo to Australia, Avhoro he has taken several prizes, being first at Kilmore against all comers. Afterwards he was imported to Canterbury, Avhcrc ho has taken several first and second prizes, and has given the highest satisfaction. Young Watty's sire, Sir Robert, is a pure Clydesdale, and avus bred by Mr James Scott Stanley Muir, avliosc horses have been sold at higher prices, and won more prizes during the last half century, than any others in the West of Scotland". Sir Robert was first exhibited at Coldstream in March, ISG2, Avhero ho won the Union Agricultural Society's prize of £30, beating twenty of the best horses in Scotland. He Avon also the Northumberland Society's prize at Belfast the same season. In 18G3 ho was exhibited at the Cirencester meeting of the Gloucester Agricultural Society, whore lie Avon tho first prize. In 1801, at tho Bristol meeting of Bath and West of England Agricultural Society, bo Avon tho £50 prize given by tho Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers. In 18G5 ho Avon tho first prize at the Plymouth meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, and has never been beaten. Sir Robert is by the Avell-known horse Young Watty, Avho won three prizes in Renfrewshire, at Maryhill, Johnstone, and at Kilmalcolm, after which ho left the country. His grandsire, Watty, Avas a celebrated horse, having won prizes at tho following places:—One at Kilmalcolm, two at Kilbarcban, and two at Johnstone, in Renfrewshire, two at Crieff, in Perthshire, one at Biggar, in Lanarkshire, and Avas selected by the Biggar Agricultural Society to serve in that district tho followingseason. His dam, Guess, was a very celebrated mare by tho famous horse Clyde. She Avas bred by Mr Holmes, Kilmalcolm, and was tho winner of several prizes. Young Watty's dam was a pure Clydesdale mare, the winner of scvoral prizes, Avhosc sire avus North Briton, the property of Mr Hall, Aberdeen, and bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbeath, Dumfrieshiro, His sire Avas that far-famed horse Samson, Avhieh gained many first prizes, belonging to Mr Stevens, Park Farm, West Lothian. North Briton's dam was a pure Clydesdale marc (bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbeath) Avho avus dam of five other stallions, all Avinners of first prizes. North Briton Avas also the Avinner of several first, and was tho first horse drawn at Forfar Avhen rising four years old ; the following year he gained the second prize at the Highland Society's Show, and the second year ho gained the prize of £30 at Cupar Fife. Ho has also gained many other prizes. Young Watty's granddam was also a pure Clydesdale marc, bred by Mr Taylor, Towill; got by that well-known horse Tho Sovereign. She gained the Highland Society's first prize when a two-year-old, besides a great many other prizes, thus showing Young Watty has descended from the best blood Scotland can produce. Lord Castlerkagh's dam, Violet, by Sir Colin Campbell, his sire King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, is a Pure Clydesdale marc, bred by the late David Lewis, Esq., Lincoln-road. She gained first prize as a yearling at tho Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show in 1870 ; also at the same time taking- Mr Wall's Five Guinea Cup, for tho best Colt or Filly, by Sir Colin Campbell, on the ground. In 1871 she gained the first prize at the Ellcsmero Agricultural Society's Show as a two-year-old. In 1872 she took second prize at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show, and first at tho Ellcsmero Agricultural Show in tho same year. In 1573 she Avas shown amongst imported marcs at the Canterbury Agricultural Slioav, at which she gained second prize, and first at the Ellcsmero Agricultural Show for dry mares same year. In 187G she gained second prize amongst imported mares at the Ellcsmero show ; and in 1577, 1878, and 1879 she was first at Asliburton for brood marcs, and Champion for tho best mare on the ground. In 1880 Violet took in Tiniaru third prize, and first prize for the best mare with two of her progeny. In 1881, at Timaru, she took first prize for the best brood marc, and first prize for tho best mare with two of her progeny. In 1882, Violet took first prize for the best mare Avith two of her progeny. Lord Castlereagh avus shown at Ellcsmero Slioav in 1878, and took first prize, and the special prize of Three Guinea Cup for tho best three-year-old entires, and first prize in Christchurch the same year, and Avas shown at Timaru in ISBO, and took third prize. In 1881, at Timaru, he took first prize, beating six competitors. In ISS2, Ist prize for the Best Bred Horse, Ist prize for all Aged Horses and Champion Prize, 10 guinea Cup for tho best horse on the ground. Terms : £G 10s each marc ; two or more tho bona fide property of the sameoAvner, as per pgrcement. Mares not proving in foal this season -will bo served for half price next year. Mares to be removed and paid for by the Ist of January, 1884. First-class paddocks provided; every caro taken, but no responsibility. Due notice will bo given when mares are stinted. ShoAA r , 1880, and first at same place in 1881 as a two-year-old, beating eight others, and first at the A.P.S. ShoAv, Hastings, last year.
