Sire, the Avell-knoAvn horse Young AVatty, imported to Victoria by Mr Durham. Young AVatty was bred by the Duke of Beaufort, Badminton ; ho obtained second prize at the Agricultural Slioav held at Gloucester, beating fourteen others ; Avhen tAvo years old he obtained the first prize at tho Cirencester meeting, beating several three-year-olds. He ay.is then sold to go to Australia, AA'hero he has taken several prizes, being first at Kilmoro against all comers. Aftenvards ho Avas imported to Canterbury, where he has taken several first and second prizes, and has given the highest satisfaction. Young- AVatty's sire, Sir Robert, is a pure Clydesdale, and Avas bred by Mr James Scott Stanley Muir, Avhose horses have been sold at higher prices, and Avon mot*e prizes during tho last half century, than any others in tho AVest of Scotland. Sir Robert was first exhibited at Coldstream in March, 18G2, Avhoro he Avon tho Union Agricultural Society's in*ize of £30, beating twenty of tho best horses in Scotland. He Avon also tho Northumberland Society's prize at Belfast the same season. In 1863 he was exhibited at the Cirencester meeting of tho Gloucester Agricultural Society, Avhere ho avou the first prize. In 18G4, at tho Bristol mooting of Bath and AVcst of England Agricultural Society, ho Avon tho £50 prize given by the Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers. In 1865 ho avou the first prize at the Plymouth meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, and has never been beaten. Sir Robert is by tho Avoll-known horse Young AVatty, who Avon three prizes in RonfrcAvshire, at Maryhill, Johnstone, and at Kilmalcolm, after which he left the country. His grandsire, AVatty, was a celebrated lior.se, having Avon prizes at the folloAvinjT- places:—One at Kilmalcolm, two at Kilbarchan, and two at Johnstone, in Renfrewshire, tA\ r o at Crieff, in Perthshire, ono at Big*gar, in Lanarkshire, and was selected by the Biggar Agricultural Society to serve in that district the folioAving season. His dam, Guess, Avas a very celebrated maro by the famous horso Clyde. Sho was bred by Mr Holmes, Kilmalcolm, and Avas the winner of several prizes. Young AVatty's dam was a pure Clydesdale mare, the Avinner of sovoral prizes, Avhose siro Avas North Briton, fho property of Mr Hall, Aberdeen, and bred by Mr Don, of Kcirsbeath, Dumfrioshire. His sire was that far-famed horso Samson, Avhich gained many first prizes, belonging to Mr Stevens, Park Farm, AVcst Lothian. North Briton's dam was a pure Clydesdale maro (bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbcatli) avlio Avas dam of five other stallions, all Avinnors of first prizes. North Briton was also the Avinner of several first, and was tho first horse drawn at Forfar Avhen rising four years old; the folloAA-ing year he gained the second prizo at tho Highland Society's Show, and tho second year ho gained the prize of £30 at Cupar Fife. He lias also gained many other prizes. Young AVatty's granddam was also a pure Clydesdale maro, bred by Mr Taylor, ToAvill; got by that well-known horse The Sovereign. She gained the Highland Society's first prize Avhen a two-year-old, besides a great many othor prizes, thus shoAving Young AVatty has descended from tho best blood Scotland can produce. Lord Castlereagh's dam, Violet, by Sir Colin Campbell, his siro King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, is a Pure Clydesdale mare, bred by the late David LoAvis, Esq., Lincoln-road. She gained first prize as a yearling at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Slioav in 1870 ; also at the same time taking Mr AVall's FiA'e Guinea Cup, for the best Colt or Filly, by Sir Colin Campbell, on the ground. In 1871 she gained tho first prize at theEllesmere Agricultural Society's Slioav as a two-year-old. In 1872 she took second prize at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show, and first at tho Ellesmore Agricultural Show in the same year. In 1873 she Avas shown amongst imported mares at the Canterbury i Agricultural Show, at which she gained second prize, and first at the Ellesmcre Agricultural Show for dry mares same year. In 187G she gained second prize amongst imported marcs at tho Ellesmcre slioav ; and in 1877, 1878, and 1870 shoAvas first at Ashburton for brood mares, and Champion for the best mare on the ground. In 1880 Violet took in Timaru third prizo, and first prize for the best mare Avith two of her progeny. In 1881, at Timaru, she took first prize for tho best brood mare, and first prize for the best maro with two of her progeny. In 1882, Violet took first prize for tho best mare w}th two of her progeny. Lord Oartlereagii Avas shown at Ellesmcre Slioav in 1878, and took first prizo, and the special prizo of Three Gtnn* 3ll Cup for the best three-year-old entires, and first prize in Christchurch tho same yeiir, and Avas shoAvn at Timaru in 1880, and took third prize. In 188.1, at Timaru, he took first prize, beating six competitors. In ISB2, Ist prize for the Best Bred Horse, Ist prize for all Aged Horses and Champion Prize, 10 guinea Cup for the best horse on the ground. Terms: £G 10s each mare; tAvo or more tho bona fide property of the same owner, as per pgreement. Mares not proA'ing in foal this season will be served for half prico next year.
