Tun! Wellington correspondent's telegram to the Auckland Herald, tliat we publish in another column, states that the resignation of Mr Whitakor, and the consequent reconstruction of the Minietry will make no alteration in the policy of the Government. Now wo come to think of it, what was the policy of the Government ? Tho Ministerial political catechism may be summed up in a very few words: To hate G-rey and all his words, and to adopt all his proposed works; to leave undone what ought to ho done ; to put off till next year what is too much trouble to do in this; to strain evejfy nerve to keep capable men out of Parliament, and to appear as geese in an assembly of boobies. What between the nationalisation of la7id, the national insurance scheme, the annexation movement, and the neglect of every day concerns of local and public importance, the Ministry havo been doing their best to imitate Dickens' celebrated Mrs Jollaby, whoso interest in the niggers of Borioboola Grha was superior to her household duties.
