FINING SALVATION ARMY CAPTAIN AND OTHERS FOR OBSTRUCTION.
TniAßtr, This day. Eucbrci Smith, captain of the Salvationists at Timaru, was charged yesterday in the lI.M. Court with causing the obstruction of tho streets last Saturday by heading a noisy demonstrative procession, thereby inducing a crowd to collect, whereby the streets became choked, impassible for vehicles, and dangerous for horses. A fine of 10s and costs was imposed and defendant's counsel gave notice of appeal to the Supremo Court. A charge of obstruction against one Maizen?art and five others, members of the " Progressive " or "Skeleton" Army, was similarly disposed of on tho application of counsel, the offence having been committed simultaneously with the former, and the evidence in both being the same.
